Playtime Is Not Optional (And It’s Not Just For Fun)

I used to think play was just… play. Cute videos, silly toys, whatever. But the more I learn about cats, the more I realize playtime is real healthcare.

Cats need to hunt. Even indoor cats. That instinct doesn’t disappear just because they live in an apartment. If they don’t get to chase, pounce, and catch something every day, they get bored. Bored cats get stressed, and stressed cats get sick.

I try to fit two short play sessions in each day, morning and night. Ten minutes each. Wand toys, laser pointers, whatever gets her moving. It’s not a chore. Honestly, it’s my favorite part of the day.

The bonus? A tired cat is a happy cat. She sleeps better, eats better, and drinks more water. Everything connects.

So yeah — playtime isn’t just for fun. It’s part of taking care of them.
